Red Class is studying changes—how materials change when heated and cooled and how streets change through history. For this they'll make replica ancient pots and catapults, research castles and think about what our future homes may look like. In maths we are highlighting the 10 x, 5 x and 2 x multiplication tables. See our January Newsletter for more details.
Crimson Class is focussing on the ancient Egyptians—their rulers and the pyramids in which they were buried, their religious beliefs and how their society was organized, including the slave system. Literacy will cover Egyptian myths and legends, In Numeracy we are making mini-pyramids. See our January Newsletter for more details.
The Scarlet Class theme is "Lights, Camera, Action!"—from the origins of the moving image to special effects in movies, and from Hollywood to Bollywood. On the way, the topic covers a wide range of science, history and geography, as well as technology and the arts. See our January Newsletter for more details.
Outside the curriculum, the ICT Club is proving so popular, Mrs Douce is having to split the club into alternate weeks. See her letter home (22 January) to find out which dates your child should attend.
Until Easter we have places for 10 Yr 4-6 children to work with Boston Judo Club at Boston Conservative Club. This is part of the The Giles Rural Project and an extra pot of money which may soon dry up.
We are pleased with the quality of our school dinners, cooked by Boston Grammar school. The four-week rolling menu is attached to the January Newsletter; also a questionnaire for feedback to the chefs, telling them the kind of things the children enjoy or don’t enjoy, and suggestions for things they would like to see offered.
We have booked a knitting day for Wednesday 16 February with an organisation called Angelbear (www.angelbear.org.uk). This is a charity that knits bears to send to children in Africa. Angelbear will teach our children to knit, at the same time raising their awareness of what life is like for children in another country.
